Management Acceleration Program (MAP) — Region VII Head Start
The Region VII Head Start Management Acceleration Program (MAP) is a comprehensive training program designed using a combination of formal and informal learning opportunities. It is provided to new Head Start management staff of 2 (two) years or less in their current roles, and is designed to provide foundational information about Head Start history, services and systems. Though designed for Head Start Management Staff, other Grantee management who may also benefit from this program include: Executive Directors, Fiscal Officers, and Human Resource Manager.
MAP provides a combination of formal and informal learning opportunities; it also utilizes multiple modes of learning from interactive face-to-face large group training, web-based presentations, and individualized technical assistance on site. MAP is designed to provide new Head Start management an opportunity for a successful orientation into Head Start programming and operations that will lead to the delivery of quality services.
At the conclusion of the program, each MAP participant will have completed an introduction to all Head Start services and systems, received professional development opportunities internally and externally to Head Start through a self-directed individualized Extended Learning Plan.
Multiple modes of training delivery:
• Interactive Large-Group Training
• Web-Based Training
• Extended Learning Application Plan
• Additional Professional Development Training
Participants:
1. Each participant will complete at least one learning objective for inclusion on their Extended Learning/Application Plan each day following training sessions.
2. Objectives will be based on current learning and self and/or program improvement goal.
3. Participants agree to one follow-up contact within the year following their MAP formal training.
4. Participants are responsible for assessing their current status and progress in meeting professional development goals and objectives as developed during the course of MAP.
